VANUNUS STORY
Vanunus story When I was in Palestine I met many interesting people, one of them was Mordechai Vanunu. He told us his story, and after that he wrote it down so that my class can read it. ( 7th grade, 12-13 year old.)This is his story:My storyname is Mordechai Vanunu, I live in Jerusalem. I was born 13/10-1954 in Marakesh, Marocco. I have 6 brothers and 5 sisters. I grew up in Morocco, ten years old I immigrated with my family to Palestine.When I was 18 years old I left home and served 3 years in the army like all young Israelis have to.When I was a boy I liked to walk in the city, and I liked to watch movies. My favourite subject was history.As a young man I liked to travel, and in August 1980 I visited Norway. I liked the fjords very much.I started working in a nuclear plant called Dimona, I worked there as a technician for 9 years. The factory bought “heavy water” from Norway, but that was a secret. I started to suspect that the Dimona factory was producing nuclear weapons, and I found out the truth about the heavy water. The factory produced 10 bombs each year.I became a Christian when I was 32 years old, because I didn’t like the Jewish faith. I rejected what they teach, they believe they are super race.In 1985, when I was 32 years old, I told my story to a newspaper. When the government found out, I was Kidnapped from Rome Italy.. I wasn't allowed to tell the truth.I spent 11 ½ years in total isolation, I was allowed to meet a priest onceeach month.When I was alone in my cell I did exercises, I read loud tomyself, I listened to music, I did yoga and I wrote letters.Last year I was set free, but I'm not allowed to leave Israel and I'm notallowed to meet foreigners. I do now live in East-Jerusalem with Palestinians under Israeli occupation, with Christian people because Israel is a Jewish state, not real democracy.I hope that you will read my story, and that you will learn about how important Human Rights are.My main message is that we the people,human beings,do not want NWs on this earth,no human being should posses or use NWs{Nuclear Weapons,}.We the people were born free,and we will be total free,no one can make slaves,or Puppets. We have a free human mind spirited,we are more than animals.All the people are free independent humanbeings.
